Sneek Preview by ConnorComment: Wow, this could have worked in both challenges. :-) I suppose that hidden treasures had fewer entries, though. I love the idea. Reminds me a bit of pulp fiction, but I think you executed it well. I think I would have liked a bit more brightness or some more saturation to the color, though. Perhaps a curves adjustment to increase brightness and contrast? Overall I like the idea. 6 |

Beneath the Waterfall by ekmaiComment: This is a very literal take on the challenge. I like it, but the quite swirl coming out of the chest detracts from the image. I'm not sure what caused it or if the cause could have been removed. Otherwise, I think the focus should have been on the chest rather than the waterfall. (If my eyes deceive me and the lid of the chest is not out of the water and the chest is completely underwater, ignore my comment and call me an idiot because I know that a clear focus is impossible with the shutter speed used.) I give it a 6. |

A baby beetle hiding in darkby liangdaweiComment: I don't see this as a hidden treasure. I give it a 6 Otherwise, it's a great shot. I'm wondering what kind of flash you used for this. The reflections are a little bit blown from the flash. I know I don't have the equipment to remedy any of that. It's a better job that I could do with the same subject. Having said that, you should check out
nocroppingzone.blogspot.com
Somewhere in there, you'll find the equipment he uses and I know he has some diffusers for his specialty macro flash. Interesting stuff and AMAZING macro insect photography. |

Lighthouse at the end of the Jettyby JaimeVinasComment: I like the authentic "film feel" to this. The composition is nice as well, although I wonder if a slightly higher or lower angle would have brought out the lighthouse better. 6 |

Stacked Stonesby tivoComment: What a wonderfully beautiful place. I'm not sure if this really goes with the challenge, though. Also, with the miniscule dimensions required by dpchallenge, I can't really tell if the focus is spot on or not. Right now it's making me want to reach for some glasses, but that could just be the image size. 6 |

Pots of Goldby BradComment: I really haven't had a chance to photograph rainbows yet, so I can't really critique with any knowledge of the subject, but.... the central portions of the rainbow or blown out just a bit. Just enough to leave me unsatisfied. I wonder if a tighter crop and some post processing could have helped a bit. What a wonderful moment to capture, though. This really reminds me of where I grew up, Alamogordo, New Mexico. 6 |

Fly Guyby MartinComment: I love the color of the fly. I definitely wish the dimensions didn't have to be so small. I'm sure that his eyes are bursting with detail. My only problem is that some of the photo is just washed out. I know that if you darkened it, you would probably lose some detail, but the brightness just doesn't quite work for me. I still give it a 6. |

Find the Old Pennyby jcarComment: an interesting shot for this challenge, but the lighting doesn't really "wow" me. 6 |

Exposedby EstimatedEyesComment: There's something pleasing about this. I'm not sure it matches the challenge, though. 6 |

inconspicuousby SandkuhlComment: An interesting photo. It just seems to lack detail on the subject. Were you trying to focus on the very tip? because I think it fell slightly further down. Believe me, this is a major critique of my own macro photography. I still love the colors. If the focus were better, I would probably bump this up 2 points. I gave this a five, but it's better than all of my other five photos... 6 |
