Exposed Staircaseby d14Comment: The soft focus in this works well for the mood - especially coupled with black-and-white. The symmetry (or near-symmetry) helps hold this together, keeping my eyes from leaving the frame even when the lines of the staircase might otherwise result in exactly that. |

A Child's Perspectiveby jas0420Comment: I like this - and the designs on the front of the machine are nice. The reflections in the plastic are a slight distraction, though. |

Low Tech Undoby GraciousComment: Hee. This one is amusing and cute. I like hte relatively crisp focus throughout. Do you sell erasers, or did you have to buy that many to produce this effect? Or borrow? |

Sharing Secretsby sunflowerComment: This is a very cute pose, but I'm not sure it's filling the frame. More than that, almost everything - the line of the boy's face, the horse's eye - seems to be somewhat out of focus. I'm not sure what (the ear? the fence?) the camera latched on to, but the depth of focus wasn't enough for it to bring all of the two main subjects into focus. The background being blurred out is a nice effect, but would be stronger if the subjects were in focus. |

Lace Skyby amsmythComment: This is a lovely subject. I'd have liked to see a bit more of the tree-top, a bit less of the trunk - more a straight-up shot - especially as the bright light seems to wash out the bottom part of the trunk. Or maybe just a tighter crop, removing the lower part of the picture, if another angle wasn't workable. |

Archwayby timmiComment: I love the lines nad patterns this creates. Amazing (to me, anyway) that the sky doesn't wash out the foreground, but the lighting is nicely controlled. |

Fire Truck Pump Gaugesby barahooComment: Wow - that's quite an impressive array of gear - almost dizzying to look at, really. This is a good crisp shot and an interesting subject; I just wish I had somewhere to rest my eyes in it, fewer items to look at at once. |

organicby sanandanComment: That's a nice vivid color, and I like the shapes - but I really wish the whole of the flower were in focus; instead, the pieces that don't curl up toward the camera are blurry, but it's hard to take part of the subject as "background" and part as "foreground".... |

Winning Handby boyte1Comment: Overall a very nice photo, though I think it could have been better. The reflection on the spade in the bottom center is a bit distracting - and the 9 of diamonds breaks the composition a little, looks enough like it belongs to draw the eye; I think it might have worked better with a spade or club there. |

Neighborsby kyrielleComment: I will add on this one that the composition I wanted was impossible. I tried a horizontal composition and it looked pretty awful. I'd have liked to get the white building more prominent by shooting from closer in and closer to the ground. However, I would have had to trespass on private property and stand in a marshy area I could smell all the way to where I did take the picture from...I wasn't feeling quite that dedicated, I fear. |
