The Nurse Who Loved Meby Pipe_DreamComment: I would have cropped tighter at the bottom, maybe work this into a square crop. The clarity, lighting and play with the water droplets is stunning. /8 |

Da Vinci's Vitruvian Manby aplomb76Comment: Clever and very well executed. My first impression was that this might have been topped if the right foot had been kept straight, but then I looked at Da Vinci's original and it wasn't straight either, except it was the left foot there ;) /9 |

A day at the beach by LalliSigComment: I'm not sure about that piece of foreground blur, but I'm really nitpicking here, this is a very powerful and beautiful photograph in all aspects. -9 |

Looking skywardby Yo_SpiffComment: I like the composition and the blurred background turned out very good, but I think you would have gotten a much stronger shot if the lens/hand in the lower right corner were in focus. Maybe just my interpretation but I don't believe that *everything* needs to be out of focus to meet this challenge. /6 |

Night Walk by al1989Comment: Your entry may have been taken at the end of the day, but that's it, the timing is right but your subject doesn't convey the concept of "end" to me in any way I could think of.
That said - and challenge subject aside - I could imagine this photograph hanging on my wall here or, indeed, framed in an art gallery. The composition is intriguing, I feel drawn in and fascinated the longer I look at it. There is some visible noise that could have been minimized by using a lower ISO and longer shutter speed (tripod), but apart from minor technical shortcomings, this is a great piece of fine art. It was just a really, really bad choice for this particular challenge topic, which is probably why it got voted down. Nonetheless, a very good debut on DPC, in my opinion. |

Windfarm across the riverby RUEDISCHMUTZComment: Have you considered cropping out the bottom half? I don't think the rocks and ducks add much to the photo, whereas the upper half is stunning, especially because of the strong contrast of the windmills and sea against the white sky.
-- 5 for lower, 8 for upper half, rounded up to 7 ;) |
