Going Home by ToddhComment: Thanks everyone for the comments.
I think both luck and a little patience were on my side for this shot.

Future Pilot by SonifoComment: Congrats Sonja, I had this pegged for a top 3 finish and I would have been disappointed if it had not, this was my one and only 10 for the challenge. Nice to share the spotlight with you. I definately think this is one of your best. |

Crowby ScottKComment: Nice capture though perhaps a little oversharpened. As with a number of shots in this challenge, I think it is always preferable to see the bird's face if possible. I know it's to always easy to capture a bird flying towards you but I think this one of the things that could be improved. The clumps of seaweed detract as well. I have given you a five because, despite some compostional problems, I think that you are not far off a good shot here. If you would like to discuss this shot further after the challenge let me know.
Good Luck, Todd. 5 |

Not an Eagleby ExcelsiorComment: The capture of the seagull is good but the shot is let down by a number of things. It seems to be quite grainy and not overly sharp, it looks like perhaps it is a small part of the original picture. IT is a bit too dark also, the body and head of the gull are almost hidden in the shadows. Finally, the corner of the building or whatever it is in the bottom right corner is also distracting. If you would like to discuss this shot in more detail after the challenge let me know.
I have given you a 5 because I like the composition of the pic (withthe exceptrion of the roof in the corner) and I think that the shot shows potential.

Untitledby tomlewis1980Comment: nice capture, it's just a little dull in my opinion. I would like to see this perhaps lighter and more contrasty. I'm also not sure that being purely black and white really helps this image any. Shame you didn't get his other wing in too.
Good Luck, Todd. 6 |

Fishingby kosmikkreeperComment: interesting shot, I like the contrast between the slightly overexposed back of the gull and the high contrast part of the image as opposed to the *fairly* dull low contrast water.... it works well, I think that the duotone effect makes the image feel perhaps hotter (temperate-wise) than perhaps it would have looked it colour. I have changed my mind, I actually gave this a 6 to start with but after looking at it more closely I think it deserves an 8 as much for the post processing as for the image itself. Birds Nest Tavernby ShiiizzzamComment: really like this shot, it has a definite mood. the slight motion blur adds to that feeling. Compostionally, I would have perhaps taken a shot from down lower so the top of the hay was above the horizon line. I think that would have improved the image quite a bit, currently the hay almst gets lost by being level with the top of the trees. Overall though I like it, the doutone effect works well here and, again, adds to the mood of the shot. Good Luck, Todd. 7 |
