Hi Wendy,
I worked on this photo a month ago, and I'm at work now, so I'm not sure if i did shadows/highlights. I do remember that there was a large section cut off on the left of the histogram, so I am pretty sure that is most of the bird and there is not much detail to recover. The thing I really like about this photo is how the light caught his head and the light on his eye, and in particular his beak. This is a hard bird to expose for without blowing out the background.

I love the colors and its tack sharp which I am always a fan of. I think the flower in the background distracts me a bit from the bee which should be the main focus. I like it and I think its a great score for a free study. I expect to see this one in the Wildlife Images Side challenge, then I'm sure you'll get more comments ;-)

I like where you put him in this one. My favorite part is the pinks in the background. This photo may benefit if you actually zoomed out and had the branch exiting the photo on the top vertical third, rather than in the corner.

I love the look on this little guys face. It looks a little blown out above his eyes, but that may just be this monitor. I probably should look at these on my calibrated monitor at home rather than at work ;-)

I still don't think your ISO was too low. I like this shot alot, more than your next one with the fish. I'd like to see a little more contrast.
