The out of focus background keeps drawing my eye. The texture of the pier would have been really brought out with a crop removing the bright lights in the sky.

Its a pity it was so cloudy, I think it makes the picture feel flat and colourless. Some sky would have brought in a depth.

I hope you haven't put this in the challange, because I would have to give it a 10 and that would just ruin my chances of winning. Background gives it a lovely oil painting feel, great earthy tones complement the whole thing. Great picture.

Very clever, I think, concentrate on the dog, sends my eyes loopy, concentrate on the shadow.... Glad I'm using a laptop to look at it in landscape.. my wife is now looking at me funny...:-)
