LimboComment: Ok, I need to clarify what went on.
I cloned out a spot I believed at the time to be sensor dust. The following day I questioned myself and less than 18 hours after submission I requested validation.
I did not want to win with any doubt in my mind that all rules had been obeyed.
Would it have passed validation if I'd not pointed it out to SC? Maybe, maybe not.
Would I have been happy, had it passed without full disclosure? Most definitely NOT.
I am angry with myself for making a stupid mistake, no one else. I know that sensor dust are dark blobs, not bright highlights. However, 15 mins before deadline, I checked my setup and couldn't locate what would be causing the highlight on either my lens or setup and assumed it
must be sensor dust. In a panic rush to submit, I made a stupid call.
Don't think SC robbed me of a blue; I did.
Don't question the rules; the rules exist to ensure a fair and balanced system.
I now know that I can get a 7+ score. I now know that I can get a ribbon. Due to the size of the imperfection, I doubt it would have altered the score much. I'm happy to think that, and will keep trying to hit the front page again.
