Please Don't Take my Mousie Again!!

It's a very good picture of the cat, but it doesn't meet the challenge very well. I don't see despair here, I see a contented cat. In fact this would have done well in the Stock Photo challenge- I could quite easliy see this ending up on a cat calendar.

The title and picture don't really work together for me. The problem is that where I live, the weather tends to come from the direction of the bright area in your picture, so to me it looks like the storm has passed- here comes the sun.

That aside, it's a good image.

Sorry, it just doesn't work for me. Displaying it as a negative just confused me.

Perhaps it's because I'm male, but a toilet, regardless of condition, doesn't represent despair for me. It's more likely to repesent a sense of relief!

I like the harsh nature of the lighting, and the angle does make it a more dramatic picture.

I don't really get a sense of despair from this. To me it's just a chore, so get on with it! (Here speaks someone who will see at most 2 inches of snow a year)

Technically, it is well exposed and composed.

This is very effective. You have managed to capture the feeling very well with a sad looking kitten, isolated like this.

I think it must be me, but I don't get a feeling of despair from this. It's probably due to the gentleman being upright - standing tall. The grain effect is appropriate for this image, but the sepia tone doesn't feel quite right. I think it's because sepia is usually the colour of old photos, but this has very modern elements in it:- the buildings, wide empty road and the shopping trolly.

I'm not sure how this implies despair- maybe I need to know what the business is that needs help. Technically I find the bright spot at the top left to be distracting.

I think that if you had made it slightly darker, it might work a bit better. As it is, to me, it looks like the light at the end of the tunnel, saying there's always hope.

As I'm a atheist, this is a guess, but isn't the crucifiction and subsequent resurrection a story of hope, rather than despair? It's a well composed image, but it looks somewhat noisy.
