66°Northby Ragga2000Comment: Great shot Ragga! I love it the colors of it and the soft effect of the ocean.
It certainly looks like Antarctica, and I know cause I am close to 78 degrees South right now!
Of course .. the water around here is pretty stiff at the moment and taking a shot at sunset is not an option as the sun is up 24 hours a day this time of year :-) |

Looking up at the Emperorby SteenMComment: Thanks to everybody who voted for this one. This was my first entry in a challenge and I am very happy placing this high on the list.
Several people have asked where it is taken and what I am doing here. I am providing engineering support for a science team studying the Weddell seal population at Ross Island in Antarctica. We are 7 people in a small camp on the sea ice off the coast. Looking at a globe, go South from New Zealand and you get to the Ross Sea and Ross Island. This is where many of the old explorers were a long time ago and both Scott's and Shackelton's huts are just a few miles from our camp.
We often have Adelie Penguins around but this was a rare visit by Emperors.

Straight & Upby AlainComment: Like the shot a lot, but would have liked to see the tracks in focus all the way in. |

Changing Perspectiveby pointandshootComment: That is a really interesting light! What caused that??
I think i would have cropped it tighter and cut away some of the top. |

The Farmerby elipsComment: I like this a lot. If I am to offer any critique, then I would have liked it better if the farmers hat did not run in with the gate like it does. |
