Sphere of Happinessby ACheltonComment: Not a strong emphasis on shape here, far too many distractions. (The image could work as is for different purposes though.)
To emphasise the shape, you could try framing so that you have only the rock and the hand holding it, or perhaps the rock, hand and the model's head (trying to find similarity in the shapes of the head and the rock). Make sure your model takes off the backpack though, so that the objects sticking up from it don't distract attention from the shapes. |

Bridge Symmetryby manic35Comment: Good image, but it would be improved by narrowing the depth of field to blur the distracting background stuff - even if it comes at the cost of making the more distant bridge slightly blurry. |

Eagleby matoComment: Interesting idea, but it's turned out as a bit of a nothing photo. A few variations that might improve it:
- Make the hands more out of focus. They seem to be almost, but not quite, in focus, which is distracting. Make it clear that you've deliberately made it out of focus rather than leaving us wondering if it was a mistake.
- Leave the hands out of focus, but make the shadow in focus, or nearly so.
- Photograph only the shadow, not the hands.
Making the photo monochrome was definitely the right thing to do though! |
