Using your macro in this shot would have got around your focusing problem. It then may have looked amazing if you had the REFLECTION of everything in the background in focus!

Almost a great shot - I love how his feet are just leaving the wood! I would have preferred to see his face than his butt though!!!

I know that getting live action can be hard, but its still important to maintain focus. This would have been a great shot! However watch the whites - they are overexposed. In most photographs that you take you should always be able to see detail in every part of your picture. Here there is no detail under his wing.
