Alien Transmissions At Dawnby magnetic9999Comment: An interesting title which encourages thoughts in a different than expected direction. And I like that. Unusual yellow greenish hues in the sky which is kinda cool. Too bad about the plane trail beside the roof peak. It looks a little bit like a bothersome hair. But that is only a minor quibble. I would be happy with just the antennae alone without the other roof structures. But that was probably not practical from your vantage point. The brooding heavy clouds and silhouettes in the foreground are very attractive visually.Thank you for stumbling outta bed to share this lovely dawn sky with the rest of us DPC'ers. |

Chancellors meal ?by micrixComment: An interesting photo. Lots of elements demanding attention from the viewer. There are so many different colors, textures, shapes and lines in this smorgesboard. My favorite elements are the fork and knife with the most alluring hue reflections. The highlights of the container are quite strong, plus a spot or two of glare from the sauce and bottle. Could I suggest photographing just a couple of these elements in a small group. To lessen the visual confusion and create a stronger story with just a few objects. For instance the fork, noodles and a touch of sauce. The wood board background is a great idea that goes well with the theme. I think the food against the wood grain without the gutter lines might be a possibility. You have the right idea to get in close and play around with the composition. Just choosing which objects to make your image say what you want is the difficult individual perogative. A good commendable effort. Please continue to enter in future challenges ! |

Golden Deliciousby JMSComment: Your idea of the stem plunging into the yellow "pool" has a nice creative edge. The colour is fine and I understand your choice of focus. Could I make a few suggestions? The idea of a plain background is wise. But perhaps a different colour to act as a contrast (e.g. black ). The flow of lines near the stem junction are visually attractive. What do you think of plucking out the stem and doing a near overhead close up shot ? So that it appears as a yellow spotted belly button of some strange beast ? To me those lines and spots on the apple skin appeal to me more than the harsh intruding stem which overpowers the other parts of the apple. Otherwise this is a good photo. Thank you for entering. I'm looking forward to your future creative images. Good luck! |

A Whisper of Sunlightby GotchaComment: A breathtaking image of inspiring quality. Melting away in admiration of the soothing soft colors. The easy on the eyes focus is very pleasant and appropriate for the mood of this photo. There are a couple of hot highlights and stabbing vertical lines that others may find a minor distraction. But it is part of the situation and I can live with it no prob. The tack sharp foto hounds may hassle you a bit too. Don't pay attention to them. This is a highly creative endeavor which speaks charmingly to the gentle heart. Very well done indeed! |

lemonadeby snaperukComment: Lemons lemons everywhere. Another classic professional pose by the subject in question. Some folks may bicker a tad that the fruit is a hair on the orange side. Phooey. A good job with nice chioce of green tint bubbly liquid and no distracting reflections or shadows. Smack dab on tones, composition, lighting and all those usual checklist items. The standard black background gives vitality and contrast to the lemons. Although this composition is typical you have demonstrated your professional capabilities. Good show. |

Yellow Cabby robbiehComment: Love the bold red window frames that accent your image so well. A hilarious shot that siuts the challenge well. I would have liked to see the rest of the bumper shadow on the far right side. Just a minor point. The hint of grass on the bottom gives the image an appropriate visual base. Way cool dude(ss). |

His Favourite color by HoogieComment: Perhaps the most outstanding macro shot on the site yet. You rightly deserve first place hands down with this entry. No contesting that. The impeccable bee focus to bring out every detail and nuance of tone in the insect is sheer magic. The background fades ever so gently and smoothly from the delicate foreground folds.Incredibly beautiful hues in the petals and wings. If you don't receive another 50 rave reviews I will be very surprised. A true masterpiece! |

Almost Goneby JPRComment: One of my top fav fotos for this week. The panaramic format and unusual composition combining derriere and shadow work very in this dynamic image. Although the feeding bowl is a very minor drawback it is a fact of the situation. The fuzzy bamboo backdrop is a complimentary texture. The stance of the animal shadow demonstrates sleek muscular power. I admire how you balanced the touch of color with the interplay of B&W. Gorgeous! |

Waldo is sick and tired of being found...by jgillardComment: Ha Ha ! If scores would be gauged according to humour you would get a 10. Your idea is commendable. The bottle and box are excelent choices of stage props. This appears to be an off the cuff idea that you attempted to capture at the moment of inception. Spontaneity and creativity are worth developing. Unfortunately you may have to compromise some of those exceptional talents in order to acheive a lofty score. And that would make me sad. Anyways, could I suggest a more provocative visual statement by honing in on some of your compositional and lighting cues. If Waldo was sick and tired he might be in a darker more moody environment. Perhaps a spotlight or ray of light from an opened door emphasizing your power props (box and bottle) with ample shadow. Backlighting behind the box to catch bottle highlights for instance. You might even consider doing your image in B&W to further build the mood. Basically you hack and chop away at every visual element that does not aid in speaking your message. In this instance you might consider different lighting and camera position to eliminate the whiteness of concrete, the watch, clothing detail, chair and curtain. I do not intend this as a harsh criticism. Just alternative ways that may affect the presentation and meaning of your image. I believe that you are a good photographer that holds much promise. |

foot printsby BeckyComment: An interesting approach to this week's theme. This is a good idea. Some people may be a wee picky about those jaggy artifacts, snow not being white enough and no technical actua; presence of a person. Bah humbug. This is good creative effort in the right direction. Extra points from this corner for not stating the obvious. |
