The dark background isolates the white flowers so well. Nicely seen.

I agree with Charlene - for a "just grabbed something", its just lovely. Interesting subject, with lovely DOF, great textures, and slightly warm duotone. I really like it.

This one has a soothing, calming old world quality to it. Reminds me of a Norman Rockwell scene. I think the noise, the desat, the vignette, and the border all add to its appeal.

Stunning colours, and depth of field. Your best so far, I think.

Nice vibrant colours, and contrast, and fairly compelling subjects too.

A followup post, mostly to Roz, Jess, Ken.

I dont think, by what you say, that the browsers you were using to see this photo were colour managed.
If you were to upgrade to firefox 3, and enable colour management, you'd see this become very bright and vivid, in colour, having ProPhoto RGB profile tagged.

And yes, Ken, one has to assume that much of the DPC population would be using non-colour-managed browsers, and therefore it is always safest to save your web photos in sRGB. But, if you want to see and use other colour profiles, then upgrade to firefox 3...........with no downside in the decision.

Nice capture of the moment, of little sister copying big sister in what she does.

Thanks all, for the comments. No Ken, I didnt tonemap it, and dont even know how to do HDR. It's just a long exposure, just after sunset.......hardly any photoshopping at all, apart from saturating the red.
