The Archerby jhomrighausComment: Hi, this is a comment from the critique club!
First of all, the composition is good. The statue is good in the frame and the (small) negative space on the left is well done.
Having the challenge-topic in mind, I'm not sure if this fits. Ok, the subject is overexposed, but while overexposing one subject with backlight, the contrast goes way down and that way the photo is "just" overexposed. Try being creative with the technique is my advice.

Matryoshka- Russian Nesting Dollby LoreneComment: Hi, this is a comment from the critique club!
Oh I love the Matryoshka-dolls! I used to play with them when I was little :)
The small DoF really works in this photo, especially with the different layers of the shells of the dolls. Colors look nice and the light is good. Only thing I might have done different is the alignment of the head of the doll. Because of the DoF you lose the sharpness on the right eye, if you place the doll with the eyes straight to the cam that might have been better.

I wanted to say that the photo was overexposed, but now I see that's the challenge-topic ;)
The first two things that I see here are the bright yellow colors and the natural framing. I like it!
The darker contrast-rich rocks are great with the bright and soft view at the center. I think you did a good job.
Bigger is better, too bad the resolution couldn't be bigger. |

I am a princessby susanbComment: Hi, this is a comment from the critique club!
That is one beautiful antique doll! And she still looks very good. Well preserved, I guess ;) The colors look good with the subject.
There are a couple of issues here in my opinion that might have cost you a point.
- the sharpness / focus isn't very good. It seems like the eyes aren't sharp enough *at this resolution* might have sharpened it a little bit more.
- the background is a bit folded. My eyes went there immediately, while you'd rather have the main attention at the doll.
- I miss a very little piece of the dress at the left. If you want to crop off a piece of something, make it a bit bigger, so you can tell you're sure about your decision.

Game overby Rino63Comment: Hi, this is a comment from the critique club!
First of all I want to say that I love the beautiful b/w tones you used here. The high contrast makes it very dramatic. Light looks good.
Some things I'd change on this one. The composition could've been better, maybe a landscape orientated photo with negative space at the left would've solved that. Also I'd play around a bit with the broom and doll, but I don't know what you've been trying :) |
