For being black and white, it has a very *warm* feel to it...probably due to the natural back lighting. It has a few blown-out white areas where details have been lost, but they're not a terribly large distraction. Looks like it may even be a self-portrait of sorts...at any rate, kudos for a nicely composed (pardon the pun!) photo. |

| 09/24/2002 12:41:00 PM | This is a corner of my flat. I marked it red because I want to die.by anwlComment: Hope that title isn't for real, but if it is, there is hope (and treatment) for your depressed feelings. I sure hope you decide to stick around...this image shows you have a lot of creativity yet to be expressed. Besides, death sucks a lot more than life! Life at least has potential for something better to come along...death is the end of the road...no second chances allowed. I hope you'll be willing to risk feeling crappy for awhile just to see what tomorrow might bring. I also hope you'll get some help if you need it...and I'll be there for you, too, if you need someone to talk to. ~Nee |

Looks a bit out of focus (hand shake from too slow a shutter or too quick to snap perhaps?), but it's a lovely scene. The foreground could be cropped up a bit, but otherwise it's a fairly nice composition, and it's certainly an interesting subject. My French is very rusty, but doesn't the title translate to something like "A Thousand Flowers"? | Photographer found comment helpful. |

This is a definite *wow* for me...the lighting is almost mythical...making it appear that a supernatural force is drawing attention to the location and it was for just your benefit. God smiled on you for this one...well done! |

It would have been great if you had shot a photo of the windmill closer up, with the sky behind it...then it would have show more of your *corner of the world* (which looks like a very interesting corner!). Our clouds around my area sure aren't as dramatic as yours...a good effort, but falls a bit short. Hope you'll try again and get that windmill as the focus in the photo next time. |

Excellent in black and white...really sets the mood. Well done. |

Not sure that having the Tropicana hotel in the pic adds to it as it seems to be two photos in one. The detail and quality of the lion and sculpture above are the more outstanding features in this photo. But, on the other hand, it looks like the lion is *defending* his territory...so six of one, half a dozen of the other here. Either way, I'll rate it as an 8... and it's a pretty interesting place to call *home* as well! ~Nee |

My only two *nits* are that I'd rather not see quite so much of his feet, since they are out of focus. Maybe a crop to the upper part of the ball of the foot (right at the point just before the pant leg opening on the left becomes visible). I'd also crop out that tiny trianglular bit of pink wall (?) on the right. If you've cropped any off the top, I'd go for having his hands showing and a little bit of paper above his hands. Even so, it's still a very enjoyable entry...gave me a good chuckle! Cheers...~Nee |
| 09/24/2002 12:51:00 PM | Wine Country Harvestby IGJOEComment: I'm trying to figure out if this is a real person in the photo...or a sculpture of a person! Either way, it's a cool shot. A bit cropped off the top might keep the moon more *in* the picture. All that basically empty space at the top causes our eyes to get a bit *lost*, because the moon is at the opposite side of the photo. Keeping the top of pic on the low side would get our eyes to bounce back and forth between the two subjects a little more evenly. Good effort...almost perfect! |
