written in sandby posthumousComment: Posthumous - This is a pretty abstract shot. It's difficult to tell exactly what I'm supposed to be seeing, even after reading the description. Its difficult to determine how far away you were when you took the shot. The first thing that came to mind when I saw the shot was, "What is it?" And there's not enough to really grab my interest. It looks like the 1/15 sec exposure still gave you a bit of camera shake. It makes it not perfectly clear and although I don't think its a huge drawback to the photo overall, the voters tend to hate that. I didn't vote in this challenge, but I think I would have voted along the lines of the masses on this one. I wish you would have made the lines in the picture more of the focus of it.
So bottom line for me is I really don't get it. I don't see any relevance to the challenge looking at only the picture. Sorry. I guess you can't please all of the people all of the time. - Bob |

Enough surfing for todayby PelleComment: Pelle - Nice photo. Maybe you should critique my work. Its a very nice photo. There are a couple things that really make it stand out to me. The length of the shadow is great, very symbolic of the end of the day. And I really like the contours of the sand. That it shows no sky is really cool. I think overall for the shot, it probably helped the EV. There are a couple of "warmer" spots on the road, but nothing really hot. The only suggestion I could possibly offer would be to crop it in a little tighter, but just to make the photo a little longer. I don't think it needs it at all. You did really well with this. Congrats on a great shot. Sorry I have nothing to offer. If you take some suckier photos, I can probably help more with those. Keep up the good work - Bob |

Isolationby MsAmbrosiaComment: MsAmbrosia - I really like this photo. Its not a photo that is going to stick in my mind for decades, but I'll be reminded of it now and again. Its hard to critique a photo like this as I don't really find anything I would change dramatically. The foreground is a little bit dark. As opposed the obvious fix, lighten up the foreground a little, I'd be more inclined to pan back a little and sort of vignette the photo with the burn tool. That's really very minor and either way, I don't think it effects the great mood of the photo. I think you've done a fine job with it. I think its a 6+ photo that was somewhat under appreciated due to the gloominess of shot. Its a good photo. Good Luck with your future endeavors - Bob |

Ode to Deb by mpetersComment: I think I would've tried framing this one a bit differently. Maybe a portrait crop with the bottom of the handrail in the corner of the shot. Great idea, There is a ton of potential with this subject. 7 |

Winter Solstice by digifotojoComment: Forget the challenge on this one, go for the icy trees shot. the shadow of the tree is not isolated enough to make it effective. If you had a single tree on a large flat plane, that's a different story |

Heartby TwistComment: Wow! A ring that makes a heart! How original! All sarcasm aside, its a decent picture. Nothing to make it suck, but nothing to make it stand out of the 1000 pictures I've seen like this. Like Simon would say from American Idol... "Its forgettable" 5 |
