Thanksgiving Cactusby janrussComment: Originally posted by kudzu: just a nitpick, but the purple seems a bit over saturated... otherwise, i absolutly love this pic... great job. |
I'm sorry you feel that way because the color is very close to the real thing. |

Slide Ruleby janrussComment: Thanks everyone for your encouraging comments on my obsolete challenge photo. A slide rule is not a ruler; rather, it is a way of doing complicated math calculations (square roots, algebra, trigonometry, etc). It was in use before we had calculators and computers. I don't think of myself as that old, but I used a slide rule in high school and college and my dad, who was an engineer, used one constantly for calculations for his job. The movie Apollo 13 also shows the computer guys using slide rules to calculate how to get the astronauts home. I have forgotten how it to work it now. |

I rotated him as suggested. What do you think?

Male Northern Cardinal Taking Flightby janrussComment: Originally posted by KaDi: Wonderful wing action! The red seems a bit off--did you up the saturation on this?
Hard to capture these quick birds other than on a perch, I applaud the effort.
Grass, however, is one of the dreariest background imaginable for most subjects. |
Thanks for your complement. I only used levels in photoshop to adjust the color. The photo was a little dark to start with - underexposed. |

Hi, Thanks for the complement on my Male Northern Cardinal from the Bird Challenge. Exactly what particulars would you like me to explain? |
