I know that photographing any kind of wildlife can be very difficult and a lot of times is dependent upon luck. I like this shot but the deer could be a little more in focus, especially its face. Also the background is too busy and the tree in the foreground blocking the left rear leg detracts from the subject a little. Again, I know that you probably couldn't really control these things and that getting the deer that close and still was lucky enough.

Ha! When I saw the new topic on Sunday, new potatoes was actually the first thing that came to my mind. :) I like the idea of course and the colors. The composition is nice but I'm wondering if you tried others that showed more of the potatoes in frame from that same angle of view. I would also probably like to see more of the potatoes in focus. Looks good enough to eat, though!

I wanted so badly to score this higher than I did because I really like the composition. I had to take off points mainly because of the focus not being on the spider as the subject. The color of the background is good and compliments well with the color of the spider. The bright spot of the web center in the upper left is a little bit distracting too but may be less so if in focus. Was this shot in your camera's macro mode or not? I kind of get the feeling it wasn't or if it was you may have been out of it's effective macro focus range.

This is so cute! Another nice puppy photo this week. The focus and aperture are great, placing the sharpest focus right at its eyes. The lighting is nice too and helps set the peaceful, "sleepy" tone. Very nice.

Maybe it could be a little more shiny? :) Possibly a weak flash or a bit more lighting. I would increase the aperture also to keep everything sharp and in focus because all of the coins are basically on the same plane yet some are not really sharp.

This is a really nice photo. Well balanced composition and colors. Sharp focus. The highlights from the above foreground light may be too strong off of the manequin's heads and white in the dress. Plus, there looks to be a yellow cast to the image (but that could be intentional to leave it).

Coming Up Roses

I would think that most people would agree that this is way too oversaturated. You're losing a lot of detail in the petals by saturating the colors this much. Plus, I would probably try to frame it differently. The two leaves branching off to either side are a little distracting with the rose being framed so tightly.

Gah!! A 2 headed jungle cat! With...four front legs and...wait, that's not right. :)
Pretty good job of catching the front cat in a nice pose. I'm wondering if this is a crop of a much larger photo or if it was shot at a high ISO rating because of all the noise/grain in the background. Animal shots are always tough to get and this looks to be taken indoors at a zoo setting so the conditions were definitely not optimal. The focus could be a little clearer. Good shot though.

This is a good macro shot. The colors are maybe a little too saturated for some tastes.

A prelude to some of the pencil phtos for this week. This has a really nice, eyecatching composition. Colors are not overly saturated, which is usually good. Nice to have the background gradually go from white to grey behind the pencils. The focus looks to be set on the sharpener/shavings and I'm wondering if you toyed with setting the focus on the red pencil's tip in the foreground and decided that the sharpener looked better in focus.
