It's always challenging and rewarding when you can capture a closeup of an animal in motion and this was very successful. Great focus on the bird.

This is a nicely done shot. A comment I made on a few others, which I'll do here too, is that I really like the fact that you didn't try to do something with one plain, empty background because while the space is "negative" it's not effective. Your framing of the water and shore really good and since the Egret (?) is about the same color as the shore it pulls the eye down through the photo to follow the reflection. Really nice.

You don't own a Gateway pc do you? :) I like the idea behind this photo but I don't find it particularly effective. Granted you have a ton of "negative space" in the sky but in framing like this I feel you've greatly diminished impact of the cows, which one would assume to be the subject. I think you should have definitely used less of the sky and included a lot more of the ground because since the subjects are far away even though you would have a blue sky and green foreground that space would still be "negative" because your subject, which we would be drawn to by following the grass and sky, would still be the cows (as long as they foreground isn't cluttered).

OK, while the technical aspects of the photo don't really appeal to me as exhibiting negative space, the sign itself (related to the challenge) is damned funny! I can't imagine a more negative space to be in than a meeting of the Pessimist Club. I was browsing at work and saw your submission and laughed out loud. As I showed it to others and explained the challenge concept, it took a while for some of them to get it but it was worth it. Great thinking!

Very nice composition. I like this better than some others because your "negative space" isn't all uniform (i.e.: one solid color) which a lot of people seemed to do this week. It probably would have worked equally as well if you shifted prspective and filled most of the frame with the sky instead of the field.

This is pretty good but the area of sky is unnaturally black and doesn't seem to work for me when it meets the horizon. I like the trees though as the highlight on the leaves is just enough for some detail but not too much as to be overpowering. I would prefer to see the sky not as black because I'm sure there is some detail in there that would make it more appealing to me.

Good example of simplicity winning out over complexity. It's just a microphone but with the the spot lighting there is a great sense of anticipation. Excellent touch leaving the left of the frame open and seeming to invite the performer to the microphone. My eyes and brain keep looking to the left expecting someone to walk in and start singing! Well done.

What can I say? I love black and white candids and this is no exception. Overexposure helps, I think. The only thing that would have made it more appealing to my eye would probably be the use of a higher ISO speed if the camera allows for it. The added noise (grain) could have helped with the mood of the photo. The cop looks like he's proud of taking the perp into custody, almost like he's smiling ang striking a heroic(ish) pose. :) Great job!

This is a very cool picture. Cool in the sense that I like it a lot and also the cool color temperatures. It's well framed and easy to look at and get drawn into, as if it were telling a story. Plus, even though there is a large turquoise background, no one part of the image is overpowering to me. The man's face is a thousand stories in itself. Wonderful capture.

Very powerful photo! I definitely see the horse as the focal point of the photo as it is facing the camera and more of it is in frame than the human. Plus, since the person has his back to the camera and is looking at the horse it emphasizes the feeling that he too, sees the horse as being important. Being framed so that each subject (especially the horse) is only showing one eye adds to the power and feeling that this animal expresses. Good move not showing more of the horses face, I think.
Great job!
