Is this real?
The car looks on good nick, so how come it's nosedived into the ground here - or is it superimposed?
Fascinating shot - care to tell us more?
Good luck in the future, and I hope your insurance is up to date, Drew! |
| 01/08/2008 11:58:31 PM | AUDREY IIby KIM986Comment: Lovely shot here, Kim! Great soft background. You don't mention the lens or aperture, though I suspect that a smaller aperture would have given a crisper detail picture, which would have made this a very good contender for being an award-winning type of shot
Thanks for the idea of using Nikon lenses on a Canon camera - I had no idea you could do this, but I understand that the standard lenses sold on the Nikons are a lot better than the standards sold with the Canons. I must see if I can get to use this bit of info to improve my shots. What type of Nikon lenses will match to the 350d? |
| 10/24/2007 01:19:17 AM | Fly by ChinarosepetalComment: Well now, that's just showing off! ( the fly, I mean)
You must have the patience of a saint, and what a lovely rich set of colours - I live in England, and don't remember seeing flies with red eyes - just shows you what you miss if you don't look close enough!
Very, very nice picture. I wonder if they will ever produce a lens which will stop down to about f100 - so that you can get almost infinite depth of field?
I looked at a fly some 40 years ago through a binocular microscope, and it was scarily like this, but even greater depth of field. It's high time we had such lenses, but this is a very lovely picture, and you deserve your ribbon. All the best for your future ribbons! | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/04/2007 11:58:09 PM | Staring You Down by SimmsComment: I think this is very nicely focussed on the end of the horn - making a point of it, in fact? However, it contrasts nicely with the fuzzy coat that to my mind makes the beast a sort of cuddly-rug type creature.
So, it makes me aware that 'this cat got claws', as it were. I wouldn't like to be in the same field as this, so you got courage in my eyes - I bet you used the long end of the 200mm though - sensible!
Congrats, anyway! | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 08/28/2007 11:19:17 PM | Adagio by MAKComment: My apologies - I saw the image small, thought how clever of you to have put a sort of olympic laurel wreath on the swan, opened up to see the join, and voila - it's real feathers!
I am so impressed - I have photographed lots of swans on my local park lake, but never got such a lovely view - and the shading an shadowing show off the feathers and space round them just so perfectly.
Absolutely first quality - you must immediately think of selling it widely - very, very good. Congrats on your picture | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 08/28/2007 11:11:59 PM | Thank you. Thank you very much. by SandyPComment: You deserve the reward of patience and care - Lovely shot, great dynamics, relevant and very beautiful. What more can I say - Wishing you many sales, many, many sales......... | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Weirdly, there seems to be a face to the right in the water, with an open mouth, red lips, and lots of big teeth. Reminds of the film 'Mask', but yellowy, not green.
I love the American Scenery - you have such a lot, and what variety
Unfortunately, I live in England, and cannot afford to travel to the States, but would love to come and visit some of these beautiful places.
Congrats, and best of luck for the future! | Photographer found comment helpful. |

| 08/17/2007 09:54:50 PM | Look Mum, one hand!! by JudiComment: Wow!
Picture is great - very impressive. My brother was as cool about danger as she is - Me, I wouldn't go near the edge without a safety harness and a parachute, never mind handstanding - such is life. Hope she doesn't take it up for a living. Future venues for her could include the Grand Canyon?
I am amazed she has the strength to do that - must be very slim and light. Me - I cracked a rib leaning over the back of a couch - but I weigh about 225 pounds, so no shock there!
You have inspired me to diet - so well done with the first picture in your motivational photo series, and the best for future photos! | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 08/08/2007 02:06:54 PM | Kharunisia by librodoComment: Beautiful skin texture, or rather lack of it - very exciting to think you did it all in available light. I would love to know how to get so good.
You have inspired me to do more work with my camera - Thanks! | Photographer found comment helpful. |
