| 05/28/2008 12:05:09 AM | Wildlife as Canon Sees It by DrAchooComment: Well, Jason - you are the persistent one!!!
When I first saw this, I immediately thought you had this on one of those reflective pond things you find in some American Cities, well Salt Lake actually, which would still have been a great image, but having read through, I am amazed at the fact it's really out there in real world situation!
Very nice shot indeed, and colour is great. I am so sad that the camera was a write-off, but I also wondered if you would consider selling it to me. I have dreamed of having one of these, but could never afford one up to now, and even if it is a very expensive-looking paperweight, I would so much appreciate owning your prop camera! If there is any chance you would be willing to sell it, please let me know. I live in England, by the way, so postage might be high, but cheapest method is OK. Is the lens also a write-off, as that would complete the paperweight if it's available. Not a good advert for our Canons, is it. I live at the sea, and got drenched with my Olympus by a freak wave while photographing, and after an emergency dry down, it worked fine, just a month or two finding dried salt round the join in the zoom lens/body
Meanwhile, best of luck with your future pix, and congrats on the Blue | Photographer found comment helpful. |

This is SO much better than I got - I took about 120 shots, all at about 1/60th second, and only got a weak looking shot against light background sky. This is really impressive! Reminds me of stormchasers, and the sort of classically perfect shots they show, but they are usually about two miles away - not so you! Wonder if it was very dark, and all the light comes from the bolt, or is there some skylight, or what? I would love to know what the time was on the exposure
I bet you will get lots of folks want to buy this print - I do!
All the best for a bright future - hope it's not just a flash in the pan, as they say here

You mean to say Goldie just posed like that by herself! What a pro!
What luck - not to say patience, you must have had. Even her little eyebrows are raised in shock horror - (eyebrows? - I really must get out more!). This is just ace, as they say - You must immediately send it to lots of mags - I am sure there is a big future for Goldie, or at least, the photographer.
I would be tempted perhaps, to blow up the section with Goldie on, so she is slightly bigger in the frame, to be absolutely perfect, but that is just me - the picture is a classic - I would get a framer to make a 16x20 inch or so for your wall - I am sure it would be a great talking point for visitors, and could get you known more in the area as a great photographer. Very well done, and lighting is beautiful. Must have been difficult with a full bowl to avoid items from behind showing. Congratulations! | Photographer found comment helpful. |

It seems to be windows, but how would you live in the building - have you got any other shots which give a clue - I guess you must be on the ground for this shot, but which direction is up?
Very, Very nice shot! |

Bet he has dreadful arthritis when about 40
Great shot though - suffering for your art? |

I do remember mother used to grow a strangely similar kind of fern in our younger days, but as I am 59 years old, I hesitate to aver that she was in any way a devotee of the weed - convent educated you understand.
Don't try this at home, folks!
I understand there is some helpful medicinal pain-relieving property to the species, though no reliable scientific results seem apparent from earnest research. Studies 'in the field', as it were, tend to produce mixed results. Brain damage being one of them? |
| 04/09/2008 02:04:43 AM | 3D Nature Wiggleby labudsComment: Like the wiggle - this must be the Texas star Triffidus Maximus displaying it's courtship dance?
I understand some uneducated Texas Policemen raided a home thinking they'd "made a major drug bust when they raided a home northwest of Houston last Tuesday. After all, it looked like there were huge marijuana plants growing in the front yard"
Even more bizarre, I hear that a patch of the offensive weed near a police station was set fire to, in order to dispose of the crop, and the smoke drifted in the requisite direction, thus creating an undesired behaviour change in the law enforcement crew of the watch, who made various noises, varying from "What's that strange smell", to "Nice batch" - strange are the uses of adversity. |
