| 06/10/2008 11:50:43 PM | Day of the Blue Dragonby andrewtComment: Just a beautiful, sharp focus plane headshot of a lovely looking creature - well, if you like insects, that is. My favourite insect of all, we have some hills with pools near us where we can go photograph these - though I hardly ever go - more fool me!
You have inspired me to go out and try myself - Thanks
( I thought you used a Nikon D3 - surprised to see you using this one instead - any reason why, or have I mistaken what you shot on?) Message edited by author 2008-06-11 03:54:06. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/10/2008 11:46:50 PM | Together Forever by nutzitoComment: Lovely shot - I always feel humble seeing people from this area - life is so tough for them, and it reflects in their faces. I am glad I live in Britain - I am 60, and retired early, and I have a pension - I don't know how old this couple is, but he seems to have to work, and I can't imagine how I would manage in his situation. I wish it were better for them. Thanks for showing this image, it makes me want to do something to improve things there - any ideas, anyone? I think the toning is just perfectly right, and personally, I think the roof on the right sets the place more exactly - with it gone, it harder to place them, with it, I can almost see the street they live on | Photographer found comment helpful. |

| 06/10/2008 11:28:29 PM | The Fawns of Dawn by yankoComment: What a treat to the eye - when I saw the thumbnail, I thought I was going to see some over the top treatment - It had all the qualities of a still from a fantasy film I saw - but the full size version looks like an illustration from someone demonstrating the skill of the creator, you know, the style book - makes me want to buy it! I was sorry to hear there is a touch of camera shake, but not surprising, considering your description of taking it!
And I am quite amazed at what you have done from the original to this - truly a work of consummate skill!!
I haven't even looked you up, but if you are not a professional photo- selling success, something is wrong, wrong, wrong!
I am afraid to look in the mirror, as I feel I am Hulk-coloured. Just so exquisitely treated! I liked also the bigger catchlights in the eyes - draws attention perfectly
My hat is taken off to you - I will be buying from you - do you do retouching classes? | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 05/29/2008 12:28:40 PM | Kodak Anastigmat 105mm f/6.3by EstimatedEyesComment: This is a very nice image - I suspect it could be a tad better if you darkened down the centre bit some, and sharpened overall. One technique I like is to add another copy layer in Photoshop, then adjust contrast/sharpening on that layer, then erase away the bits you want to stay soft or lighter, then layer down to save. I suspect you may do that already though, but it's an interesting way to add to a background, or spray colour or enhancing light or shadow, and still remove it from your actual main item.
(I think I have one of these cameras or similar if Gaurav wants it - just contact me and you can have it - no need for blood my friend) Message edited by author 2008-05-29 16:30:02. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 05/29/2008 12:22:10 PM | Bridalveil Creek by EstimatedEyesComment: Oh, my Gosh! - what a corking shot! The rocks look wet - I assume from fallout from the falls - I would worry that my camera would get soaked, and go Phut on me. Is this not the situation? I have never been to the falls, and wondered how close you are to the water.
Lovely mysterious look to the pix - and fairly rich contrast, yet misty and subdued in the distant fog - a curious and striking combination - Nicely done!! | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 05/28/2008 02:43:10 AM | Web of Terrorby DrAchooComment: Amazingly good - even got his little eyes all sharp! (are thy two eyes, one above the other in the middle of his head?
Did you use flash? - I can't see how you would get it so well-lit without!
I don't have but a 50mm macro for old film Canon - again this inspires to do something more than my Cat's eye, so thank you! | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 05/28/2008 02:33:54 AM | I'm in LOVE! by DrAchooComment: I really like the effort you seem to put in to all you do! Lovely shot!
I imagine you have a happy married and family life, somehow, as you seem to have such good principles - I like the inclusion of the motto about being a fabulous and wonderful (not exact words, but the feeling's that)from the clinic. I cannot imagine you being a failure, but success in all in life.
I am sure that you will go far in your photography too - I found it hard to imagine taking all that many shots to get the right one, but it has obviously paid off - persistence pays!
I wish I was more like you myself - you have inspired me to try harder in my own life. I wish you all the best in everything, and look forward to seeing more of your photographic work.

You certainly seem to be confident around lightening - I would have been off home immediately after this shot - it looks very close! | Photographer found comment helpful. |
