protective limbsby mesmerajComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!!(again)
There is not really much for me to critique! IMHO This photo is not only asthetically (sp?) beautiful, it is also intriguing and thought provoking. I see that you have gotten a very thorough critique from Neuferland, so I will only put in my little 2 cents. I like the lighting, to me it gives the impression that the subject is turning away, almost hiding, from the light. Anyway, Very nice job, well executed!

Summer Sunset in Contrastby Retro23Comment: Greetings from the critique club!!
WOW. I really like this shot. While there may not be one branch that is the main focus, It is a very nice shot. The framing seems a little off, perhaps if you had cropped out the part of a tree on the left, or placed something (maybe the sun?) into the dip. As for the colors, they are striking, and the contrast of the trees is very nice. I truly would have rated this one much higher than the 4.7 you got, hope it doesn't discourage you. You really have a very nice shot here.

Thanks again!!

A Little Yellowby jamfzComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!! ;-)
First off, I want to say that this is a great capture!! The colors are such a pleasant suprise!
As for the technical aspects:
Lighting: Your comments may say it is "overexposed" or "blown". What they mean is there is too much harsh light (perhaps a flash)reflecting off of the plant. This results in the very light, almost white spots. Here is a link to the highlights and shadows tutorial, which I reference for help tutorial.
Placement: It is always good to have a off center subject, it is pleasing to the eye. I like the movement, how it leads your eye across the pink stalk to the yellow bug.
Background: The leaf and grey spot are a bit distracting. Perhaps a different angle would have helped.
Subject/fit topic: The subject is just beautiful, and fits the challenge perfectly.
Overall, you did a great job with a rare capture of one of nature's unusual color combinations. Great eye and keep it up!!

Old Houseby LeeDComment: very creepy.. nice dodge and burn... no lines or tell-tale marks. I love the bright door. I wonder if you made the trees a little brighter if it would contrast more with the creepy darkness of the house. |
