The lighting is so flat, I almost didn't notice the road in the background through the bales of hay. This is a good subject and it might be fun for you to visit it again in the late afternoon on a sunny day.

Composition is OK, facial expression is OK, color cast needs improvement. Sorry, not a dog fan here. Still, I remain impressed with DOF. You are getting there with your skills! :)

A Fleeing Storm

There is something about the composition in this shot that isn't as appealing as it could be. I can see the line of the water, but it's not really strong enough to lead me back to the storm in the distance. Instead, I'm left at the edge of the frame up against the mountain. Going straight through the frame -- it's bisected by the field. The lighting in the foreground is excellent; perhaps it's just that the image is trying to do too much in one frame. Still, it's nice and sharp and obviously interesting enough to make me write more than a few words, so, a score higher than 5. :)

Good use of composition and natural elements to lead the eye through the frame to the focal point. I'm not sure why it's not captivating me more; perhaps it's the lack of a warm glow on the rocks or the way the water looks. Shutter not fast enough to get the sharp detail nor slow enough to make it silky; I guess the foreground looks a bit messy to me.

Nice and sharp with good use of a slow shutter to create blur. A bit of dodging on the path of the ball might have made this stronger. Otherwise, they could be dancing. :)

Railroad tracks can be fun, and you've got nice strong lines and a decent vanishing point. Still, there's nothing here to create context or scale. I'm just not seeing what made you think "this would be an awesome picture."
