Novemberby dphillipsComment: As this photographer's son, I wanted to jump in to this discussion and say that my mom is basically a beginner at Photoshop and has no knowledge of NeatImage. These pumpkins were smooth and there was no adjustment performed to change their natural look. I think it's funny that one commenter mentions NeatImage and the rest of the people assume that this software was used, when in fact it was not. |

Pollinationby cbellerComment: Wonderful subject, and colors. The crop feels a little off-balance to me, but I will come back and see if I feel the same way later in the week (maybe it's me that is off-balance for getting up too early today!) |

Prayers are answered!by RobCourseyComment: I think this might work better if it wasn't such a tight crop. Some negative space above the subject would work well with your theme. |

Grabby jimmythefishComment: I really like the tonal range in your photograph. I wonder if it might be more powerful with a tighter crop on the hand and bottle? Nice composition as it is, though. |

Mathematical pi by kiwinessComment: Greetings from the Critique Club,
Composition:
This is a wonderful composition. The leading lines formed by the compass work very effectively to pull the viewer's eye to the pi symbol on the slide rule. These leading lines seem even more powerful because they are so much different than the horizontal lines on the slide rule that run through the entire photograph. Black and white works very well here also.
Technical:
Excellent depth of field (DOF) -- the pi symbol is in sharp focus, with the numbers on the slide rule being less in focus as you look higher up on the slide rule. This effect places even more emphasis on the pi symbol.
Meet the Challenge Objective?
Yes, meets the challenge objective very very well. Excellent photograph and deserving of the high placement it received in this challenge. Great work kiwiness!
