I really like this. The score is, however, lowered because it's not connected to the theme of the challenge.

Comment:
The bolt is centered but the composition is not. Some front-focus. Still an interesting capture and a strong start, keep submitting!
(and hey, I haven't commented in like a year so there must be something in it that caught me)

My first comment was not detailed enough, sorry. I try to correct it now. I'd mask three different areas on the original shot (water, sky, ship) and apply different postprocessing techniques on them (curves on sky to enhance the blues and brighten the clouds, mostly dodge on ship, mostly burn on water if any). But before anything, I'd level the sea and clone out the sensor dust spots.
I just checked your expo. While 1/4000s at ISO400 seems equivalent to 1/1000s at ISO100 (apart from noise) I found that longer expo almost always means more detail in shadows. You know what I mean, instead of dodging at PP, try to use slower shutter during shooting.

There's great opportunity in this image.
The composition is just good. Now to the other hand.
First of all, straighten it because the water pours on the viewer's left leg. Second, the sky needs more contrast. Third, I'd dodge some details in the ship. Try these and please submit the resulting image.

I love the contrasts in this image. The sharpness vs. softness strenghtened by the soft cold colors of the background versus the warm tones of the flower and bee. I also like the border. Good work!

With some post-processing it would be much better. I mean primarily to get rid of the noise and the gray layer.

I can feel the heat but I miss some definition here and don't understand the necessity of the black framing.

A little bit too close for me, miss some more room around and maybe some more details in "gold".
