I don't buy into the fact that a silhouette has to be completely black, but there's just way too much detail for it to be a silhouette. Kudos on the shot. I like that you left the word tracks on the sign showing. But it just doesn't fit the challenge.

The image is "high key," and I agree it borders on being a silhouette. I kinda knew that it was really pushing it when I entered it in the challenge. I too thought the shot was interesting, and the that just maybe I could get away with the entry. For me, the low score from the challenge doesn't take away from the image itself. Thanks for your comments and response!

Art: Thank you for your comments. As I gazed across the farmland and tree lines of the midwest, I could think of nothing else other than "this should not be here." So unnatural to the landscape.
It appeared almost violent, and was certainly "unappealing." That was my take and motivation for the shot, and I'm at least glad that's what came across. YMMV

Thanks to everyone for the votes and the kind compliments.

Some have questioned the relevance of this image to the challenge. Knowing the model, I think of the defining features of her personality to the polka dot dress in the same way that you might consider: a cigarette to Marlene Dietrich; street pajamas to Katherine Hepburn; giant glasses to Elton John, etc. It's part of their "signature look," and we associate those looks with their features. In addition, I felt that her eyes echoed the polka dots very well. Perhaps one commenter was being "too literal" as they mentioned.

To answer another question, yes, she is a writer in addition to be the General Manager of an extremely successful café and bakery. She does have an incredible presence - "an enviable being-there-ness" as tnun picked-up on.

Thanks again!

Funny, I wasn't bothered by the brown, dead field. Actually, I liked it and believe that it adds to the "minimalist" concept in the challenge. No need to make it "look good." Thanks for your thoughts and comment.
