Amaryllis Night and Dayby rooumComment: this is absolutely perfect and fits the description of the challenge to a T.
this is photography to me...it's nice to see that, at least to me, seems like it didn't spend much time in post like so many of the photographs in this challenge as well as on the site in general.
the subject is beautiful, interesting and simple, the backdrop is visually pleasing, it has clarity without being too sharp, the colors, the composition and the WARMTH...you just nailed it.
it has journalistic value, tells a story or at the least draws one, and draws me in..can't stop looking at this one...
this is what i strive for in my portraits and photography...i hope i can get to this level one day...thank you.
simplicity is bliss...
love it.
thank you. |

alleyby glassappealComment: Thanks so much for the votes and comments everyone! I really appreciate it!
I thought that the photo itself covered the description of the challenge well, but the selection and processing was done with less than 10min before the challenge ended...so...maybe a little too dark overall?
this photo was taken on the west side of manhattan on west side highway and clarkson st. its an alleyway of a tiny tiny abandoned 1950's diner that was once called the 'lost diner'.
thanks again everyone for the fantastic comments and votes!!!

Congrats to all the others!
This was actually a real life moment and when I saw the challenge, it just worked out perfectly with the timing...was not set up per se if that's any consolation...
Thank you again everyone! Starting to see what a great community there is here! Such a great pool of people and talent! Very active!
Cheers!!!!

bike & brickby glassappealComment: thanks for the comments everyone!
I actually decided to not crop out the top and bottom because it gave a sense of where the photograph was taken (dumbo, brooklyn)...i like the different textures and colors...plus...there are bricks everywhere. the title was not referring solely to the bluish brick wall...
@MeMex,i like to shoot my subjects dead center when shooting wide...and it was a caught moment.
but i do really appreciate all the feedback, comments and suggestions!
