Greetings from The Critique Club

This photo is really good. Beautiful panorama. The light is soft. You have taken the picture at the good time. The black and white gives a beautiful atmosphere. The blue makes it surreal. The first plan pops out of the whole as the background scene makes the perfect frame for a subject.
The light and the mood are perfect for the scene. I think you have cropped it well, it gives the image extra depth, and it feels like one is drawn in to the picture. I love the siluetted trees. I also love the fence. It looks like it is dividing two worlds. I think you have succeded not to make this picture a cliché, partly by selecting B&W and adding the purple-blue tint. I do not see anything I would like to change. Maybe the final score.

Keep up the good work. Was an honor to critique your photo.
Best regards,
Elena

Very good idea. It looks almost abstract. Meets the challenge's subject, there is no doubt about. Somehow... I wish the picture had some warmer tones. Even the red is a bit on the cold side. Nice use of DOF. If only the image wasn't that noisy... Maybe you intended a grained effect but it isn't working for me. The main subject looks well focused. I like the tree shadow on the background but I am not too crazy about the one in the foreground as it is so diffuse. But what do you do? Cut the tree out? Maybe a different time of the day would have helped... Now we will never know. But if you try a retake, make sure you have all three crosses in view. But try to lose the higher tower that is only partially in view. Try a different angle for that. Adjust the ISO to 100 if you take the picture during day time. This will lessen the noise.

Anyway, good work. It was a pleasure to comment on it even it is not your best and you know it. Keep up the good work. One of these days you will get a blue ribbon, I can see it approaching.

Best regards,
Elena

I like the picture in general. It gives me a meditative disposition so I guess that it does the same for you, that's why it is your sacred place. The way you let us see it arise some questions though. Why did you choose to cut so close the upper part of water, just before falling? Or why didn't you cut it all and get rid of that dark ribbon from the top of the picture. I like the fallen tree and the direction it points. The fact that the picture is blurry, almost makes is look abstract. Did you try to shoot from different angles? I would have tried to have something with some weight in the image. Something to pop up more. Maybe the tree. More sharpness on the tree would have been perfect. But I do like the image as it is... we just try to find ways of improvement.

Keep up the good work, you will only get better!
Best regards,
Elena

I like this photo better than the one you have entered in the challenge. But I cannot say that you did bad entering that one. There are a lot of people that like the B/W. Sometimes it is working for me too. But most of the times, I just can't give up the coloured world. I find it more expressive. The colour is talking to me. You have to be a genius to be able to express in B/W something that the nature itself needed colour to express. Do I make sense? But of course, after looking at the Ice Fall for a few hours, I don't like any B/W anymore. You might've been right to enter with the B/W because in colour, the spider doesn't look that wicked too me. Looks warm and friendly. I've been a great help, haven't I? I think you should see other opinions too. Anyway, I still like the coloured version. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful indeed. I had no doubts about this one. I wonder why I didn't guessed it was you. But I don't dare to write to much. I am taking your precious time. You are not taking pictures but writting history.
With you on this site I don't even dare to write on forums anymore. I am afraid I will write stupid things and you might read them. Isn't somehow unfair to the world to be so talented and to have such a brilliant mind in the same time?
