Good choice. I think the sign on the building and the two guys passing add a lot by creating a kind of mystery. Do they know each other? What kind of a place is La Diner de Vigeur? Are either, or both,going in? Probably neither is associated, and the place is just an ordinary restaurant - but the deatails stop the viewer, at least for a moment. Both are great shots.

Asking payment for photographs is fairly common in developing countries. I can't speak for Africa, but throughout Latin America and even in parts of the United States, people whose way of life makes them popular subjects for photographers ask for a small donation in return for having their pictures taken. I think they assume - in most cases correctly - that western tourists are far more well off than they are, and they should expect some compensation from those who wish to take their pictures.
That said, it's a great picture, brilliant colors and a good sense of the surroundings.
