| 04/24/2006 06:21:04 PM | Through the Square windowby MAKComment: This is a pretty cool shot, the idea, the execution, almost perfect but for a couple little things. The hand holding the frame, the fingers disappear under the frame, like he's holding it up, which if he is, then you either took out the bottom part of his body or used the same technique by scalvert in his "Off the Wall" shot but didn't bother to actually connect the frame, therefore having the model holding it up.
The next thing is the neat image or noise ninja or whatever you used seems just a touch much on this one, the tie and frame are really weird looking to me compared to the rest of the shot, I mean his hand holding the frame is sharp as a tack and the frame is soft. Just looks a bit funny to me. But otherwise I do like this very much, an 8 | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 04/24/2006 09:49:08 AM | Silencio by kiwinessComment: This looks like Nasti! I love this shot! The windmill in the reflection on top, the look on the person's face, can't quite explain it, it's a quiet, reflective, thoughtful look. Like she's zoning out and just being, very well done. The only thing that bothers me and it's nit picky is the hands, for some reason they don't look quite natural, the front one is okay but the other one just seems off for some reason. I can't tell what is in his hand but it's compelling and making me want to find out. It's telling me a story, giving me a glimpse into another's life and the framing and coloration used is very well done. A 9 | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 04/24/2006 09:45:32 AM | Apartment Viewby MrXpressComment: Interesting idea but there are several things here competing for my attention, the bars in the front, the benches on the terrace, the rail on the terrace, the stairs on the other side, the windows on the other side, all fighting each other and offering a jumbled overall distracting shot. The lighting is also very unbalanced and the hot spot in the upper right middle is very distracting. It's pulling my attention more than anything else. Maybe if you came back from the window a bit and up, so you had just the bottom of the terrace rail with the stairs across the way? Also less time on the exposure so the lights in the stairwell don't cause such a hot spot? Sorry, as is, a 3 | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 04/24/2006 09:37:37 AM | - F U S I O N -by kevrobertsonComment: This is interesting in that there are a lot of reflections in the glass that look like other windows and such but overall this really doesn't hold a lot of interest for me. It look over sharpened around the edges from all the glow factors, on every line there is a glow line and with all the lines and curves and letters it's just a confusing jumble to me personally. My eyes can't stay on the shot very long because it's so confusing and nothing is taking me through the shot or holding my attention to it very long. Sorry, a 3 | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 04/24/2006 09:35:12 AM | distortionby DrummieComment: Hi. Distortion is not what really comes across to me on this shot, it's more just blurry and no descriptive. The window frame is unbalanced and really fuzzy. The shot inside the window fram is rocks or trees? I can't really tell and I know I'm probably not supposed to because of the rain {?} on the window? But there is no color, not defining area to bring or hold my attention to this shot and it lacks interest to me personally. The colors are muted and the overall shot just looks poor to me. I'm sorry, but I give this one a 2 |

| 04/16/2006 01:11:25 PM | "Brighten the Corner Where You Are"by 777STANComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Wow, what beautiful flowers! Must be nice to have some to shoot, LOL, where I am it's still too cold, LOL :)
This is a lovely idea for yellow and the color is there but it seems a bit flat and dull for the light that seems to be available. An adjustment on curves or brightness/contrast could really help bring these colors out. Even a slight adjsutment on the saturation (yellow) would really help this.
Also the overall composition seems a bit off to me the balance isn't quite there, the bud on the right is throwing the whole line off of the flowers, if you bring the crop in just a bit and take out the one bud, leaving a line from bottom to top taking me in and out of the shot.
More focus on the full blooms also might help, having a shallow DOF can work with this shot if the focus is on the main bloom.
I really like the shot overall and the idea behind it, if you do rework this at all I would love to see the results.
Hope my comments help!
