.38 Specialby greenem2Comment: Can't say that the subject matter does much for me, though it does cause something of an emotional reaction. However, it's truly a beautiful shot -- nice use of DOF and the green tone really seems to fit. Kudos. |

Surprisedby arnitComment: One of the few arranged portrait shots I've seen on here that I think actually seems to convey a natural reaction. I'm also a big fan of the half face portraits, so you get two thumbs up from me. :-) |

Lady in Red by SeekerComment: Very nice. This might sound a little strange, and perhaps it wasn't possible to get the whole figure in for any number of reasons, but the way the body was cropped bothers me. In some ways, I feel like this is exploiting the sex angle even more than some of the more clearly nude shots this week. It's hard for me to describe. Please don't misunderstand, it's a great shot and I've scored it well -- there's just something about it that bothers me and I'm having a hard time putting it into words. If you'd like to chat about what I mean after the challenge, get in touch with me. |

Lantern Lightby KazComment: Pumpkins without being pumpkins, I love it. The composition bothers me a little, but I can't suggest anything different based on this shot. I think it may be a little bit too tight -- especially along the bottom. It may also be the fact that the central "lantern" is neither centered nor very off center -- does that make sense? Honestly, I'm not entirely sure, I'm just trying to talk out some of the things that may be causing this feeling that "bothers" me. |

Wrongfully Accusedby lmhrComment: Very cool idea. Great range through your grays. Composition is very nice. (I might have moved the fork over to the right a bit more, but that would have meant problems with the shadow -- might have been fixed with a different light position, dunno.) My biggest question is what the object next to the fork actualy is. Maybe it doesn't matter to the shot, but I wonder if a more recognizable "thing" wouldn't have been better. |

One Piece, 8.5 X 11, No Glueby MousieComment: Nice play of shadow and light on the pop-up, but I do wish that the hilights were a bit brighter -- this feels very grey. Maybe it's because I expect this to be white paper -- perhaps it isn't -- in which case the grey tones may be entirely appropriate. |

Dinner Timeby JEMComment: Cool subject -- not what I would think to see at a hummingbird feeder. I'm surprised at the little bit of blur since it looks like you shot with a flash. That's about the only thing I can think that would help -- a sharper image. |

Dark & Lightby RemieComment: I wonder how well this is doing this week. I've scored it fairly well 'cause I dig the abstract quality of it. I especially like the way the "neck" of the "vase" fades to black. |

Wireframing With Lightby SSonnentagComment: Have you ever been to Disneyland? (Strange intro to a comment, I know...) This reminds me of the mirror ball transitions between scenes at America Sings. If you've been, maybe you'll know what I'm talking about, and if not, oh well... Regardless, a very clever idea. |

Light the Light Thru the Treeby rajronComment: Interesting shot. Like the cloudscape around the moon and the overall darkness of the photo is very supportive of the whole. Wonder what this would look like in B&W with the levels tweaked to make it a little more contrasty -- bring out the tree and foreground just a bit more. |
