Hidden Lonelinessby CraigDComment by justesme: Firstly, desolation? No. I do not feel it here.
If the insect was not in the center of the page I would have missed it completely! When taking pictures of animals and insects, I always prefer to get upclose and personal with my super macro. Perhaps you could have waiting for the insect to move onto a different background also?
From what you have here, I would have cropped the distracting blrry bits both above and below. |

Hidden Lonelinessby CraigDComment by espenyogi: im sorry this photo doesnt do much for me, it's too out of focus and where the focal length is sharp, nothing is there to study. Sorry to sound harsh, but to me doesn't capture the subject title very well |

Three Boltsby CraigDComment by bod: Do I like this shot or what?!
Great colours & textures on the metal. The rust really adds to the shot. As David said, the closest bolt could have done to have been in focus, otherwise this is superb.
Ignore the narrow minded voters - it's their loss ; ) |

Hidden Lonelinessby CraigDComment by Pidd: You really have to study this photo to see your focal point but once you do, it is quite an interesting perspective on the challenge. |
