Fishing on Fanning Islandby MrAkamaiComment by MrAkamai: Sure! I'd be glad to see what you can do with my work. I've always admired what you produce.
Mo' stuff:
I also thought about cloning out the staying lines as they are semi-distracting. Message edited by author 2005-03-25 20:05:45. |

Fishing on Fanning Islandby MrAkamaiComment by Imagineer: I like the photo. By way of improvement I would suggest a more offset split of the horizon, ie, more sky. I'd also experiment with levels and monochrome gradient map (set to overlay blend mode, at varying opacities). This may add some more contrasty and desturated colour, adding gravitas and making the scene a little more stark. This, coupled with an increase in saturation would look great I think.
if you're interested I could show you what I mean? |

Pomegranate flowersby MrAkamaiComment by ScottK: Well, this is way after the challenge, so I don't know if you'll see this, but...
When I'm thinking "centered composition", my eye first moves to the center of the image. In this shot, I see nothing in focus in the center. Off to one side is a flower. To the other side is a pomegranate bud. In the middle - nothing. Another thought: If I'm looking for something as being a "centered composition" - or even "off-center composition", I sort of want to see the subject stand out from its background - preferably with some negative space to focus attention to the subject. That's also missing from this picture - everything sort of blends together.
Hope that helps. |
