Absolutely gorgeous. I find it hard to shoot these - they're so vibrant! You did an excellent job getting that vibrance just right. I very much like the perspective you chose to show that spiky stem they have, as well as the touch of yellow. Congratulations on an excellent score and a new entry on your top row. I love the colors and the leading line of the stem. It would be nice to see more of the front most blossom as the image feels somewhat truncated.

As you are already painfully aware, the lighting is a bit harsh. It is a great example of the flower though, perfectly formed, colourful and not yet starting to wither like myself. I actually have a thin, white umbrella that I have used in situations like this to shield the flower from the direct light and give it a softer, diffused look.

Wonderful vibrant color! And yes, shooting at midday or in bright sunshine can give harsh shadows, but sometimes the colors are just so gorgeous then.
