As you are already painfully aware, the lighting is a bit harsh. It is a great example of the flower though, perfectly formed, colourful and not yet starting to wither like myself. I actually have a thin, white umbrella that I have used in situations like this to shield the flower from the direct light and give it a softer, diffused look.

Wonderful vibrant color! And yes, shooting at midday or in bright sunshine can give harsh shadows, but sometimes the colors are just so gorgeous then.

Seems overvexposed, shadows are a bit harsh on the main flower.
