Nice photo. Looks like it may have been taken on antietam battlefield last weekend. I have a similar shot but did not get a chance to enter it. Great work.

I don't think that the sand adds anything to this photo ... would rather have seen more of the sky than any of the sand ...

other than straightening the horizon I think that this is pretty good ... I love the reflections on the water and the rich colors ...

Really like the composition with the water leading in from the bottom left. However, the horizon needs to be leveled. It's off just enough for me to notice. Great colors...

The same here.. 1/3 earth and 2/3 sky or the opposite... The rocks and the wave are amazing but there is to much of "nothing" surrounding it, hope you understand what I mean... Love the reflection and colors.. :o)

Hi :o) IMHO it is a nice photo... To make it great, hm.... Usually when I take pictures of "beaches" I stand closer to the shoreline, aim the camera a little bit down so the ocean fills 2/3 of the screen and the sky 1/3 or the opposite... The sand doesn't do that much for the picture it is more the colors of the sunset and the reflection on the water so try to avoid showing to much of it... just take your shoes off and stand closer to the water or in it :o)

Try it and see what comes out...

Hope that helps, all the best from Iceland,

Ragga.

The sky feels just a tad cramped. I would have cropped in a little more sky at the cost of a little beach. Not a ton, but more than is here.

Comment by DrAchoo:
We like to see birds and such close up, but you either want to get really close (the bird fills up the whole canvas) or you want to zoom back a bit for some context. This guy is so perfectly centered as to make the composition quite static. Try a more elongated crop with the bird off centered.

Nice job catching the breaking wave. Sky seems a little washed out or lacking in something(maybe it needs some clouds). There is a nice stratification of layers from sand, to beach break, rocks, and then sky.
