Tiger Lilyby macleodnComment by AmosDoyle: OK. I would have used a little dodging on the stamens of the flower and perhaps used a little bit of a dark or light vignette. Sometimes I use a gradient layer at the top of these flower shots in some complimentary color and fade it down, then bringing back most of the flower from the underlying layer. sometimes two separate gradient layers in different colors, one at the top and one at the bottom work for the shot. I think it sometimes gives a nice hazy soft light filled background to the composition. The composition is good. |

Tiger Lilyby macleodnComment by bdinnetz: I get what you were doing, but the detail just isn't there and the background is kind of a distraction. |

Tiger Lilyby macleodnComment by Moatz: Its a good photo, but maybe because it is technically an easy photo to capture, is why it isn't appealing to me as much as some of the other challenge entries. |

Tiger Lilyby macleodnComment by Melethia: What works for this is the bokeh and the single leaf coming up on one side. What works against it is the light, in a way. It's very even but a bit bright, perhaps, which takes away a bit of detail in the petals of the flower - it's not as rich as it could be, I think. For flowers to do well in a Free Study, they have to be spectacular. |
