I don't think the overall darkness would be to bad if the eye staring at you had been a little more prominent. Others may disagree but a nice sharp eye works better for me, the rest slightly soft is not as much as an issue.

It just seems too dark on my monitor. I don't mind the darkness in the center, and I quite like the way the face is half hidden by the darkness. It's the midtones that seem too dark. Also the focus on the right side of the image is not sharp enough. I think it would have been better with a deeper DOF and more contrast. The b&w conversion layer could be adjusted to get more light in the midtones, or a curves layer.

I really like the image and idea.. one thing I did notice, on my laptop at home it looks really great.. at work it is extremely dark. IMO the monitor the voter is viewing from can make all the difference in the votes you are pulling.

Lack of sharpness is the main issue here. You can't get a perfectly focused image from a mirror, it may look sharp but it isn't, I don't know why though but i'm sure it may have something to do with the silver backing used. Unfortunately I have to mention the dark look this has. Highlights are too grayish for them to complement the image and help its contrast.
