I actually love that is the back of the dog and how the red collar stands out. The negative space on the right is nice as well and you could have cropped away more of the left and it would have worked as well. I think the background grass tends to blur more to a neutral color than a niceer looking bright color. I did not vote but this a 6 to me, so 5.3 sounds about right. |

As the others have already noted, the weak point of the image is that the dog is facing away from the camera. Kinda like a crowd shot with only the backs of people's heads.
I like very much that you were able to keep the detail in the black fur of the dog. Too many times they come out like black blobs.
The rest of the picture I would have liked a little bit brighter. Not a whole lot brighter, just a bit.
For the pixellation, try resizing in steps. The newer software is better at it, but still has it's limits. By knocking it down and 10% or so, at a time, the software does not have to work as hard. Not sure of all the mechanics of why, but it can help where you are having problems. |

Personally I like your entry more, although, as others have pointed out, I think a frontal view would be better. It also seems like things should be a little sharper, which is likely due to either the application of noise reduction or perhaps it just needed a little bit more sharpening, since a 1/2000 shutter should stop everything. Also, I wouldn't think noise to be a huge issue at only 400, so maybe you were a bit heavy handed? Anyway, I did like your entry a good amount in the first place. Great timing and you did a great job following the prompt for the challenge. |

Very interesting theme. Unique. The techniques could have been a tad better I think.. esp. the contrast (I know my entry misses these strengths too:-). |

Nice photo. I think if the dog was running towards the camera instead of away it would have been better. DOF looks okay as well. |

Haha awesome ears! Normally I'd say the subject should be facing the camera but this works just fine. |
