refreshing!!by fredrojComment by jmsetzler: Greetings from the Critique Club :)
Hi Fredroj...
This is a nice composition for a product photogrpahy shot. There are a few issues that could probably stand a little extra attention. The out of focus background works nicely, but there are some hot spots in it that compete for attention with your main subject on the left. Correcting an issue like this requires changing your lighting. Since your camera is probably taking a majority of its meter reading from the bottle in the foreground (which is darker), it's allowing the light in the background to get more exposure than it needs. Changing the position of the light source, or adding an additional light source on the primary subject would help even out this exposure a bit.
The text on the bottle is also rather important for this shot. Some additional depth of field would help you bring that area into sharper focus.
Keep up the good work :)

refreshing!!by fredrojComment by LalliSig: I am a HUGE fan of shallow DOF but in this case not having the text at the bottom of the bottle lable hurts it IMO. |

refreshing!!by fredrojComment by Philos: Like the colors but would have liked it more with some more of the bottle in focus I guess |

A clear March dayby fredrojComment by Mousie: I second melismatica, and I found your picture in the same way. This picture rocks. The color is awesome, and I love the abstract nature of the composition. The sky is so smooth!!!
My one nit is that it's not 100% square, the wood is tilted ever so slightly to the left, and with pictures like this, I try everything I can to get the subject's lines to be completely square with the edges of the photo.

A clear March dayby fredrojComment by melismatica: I came across this shot reading the comments of a someone who is currently under fire in the forums. I really like it. It is a simple, bold, eye-catching composition. What is interesting is the low placement of the fence in relation to the rest of the frame and the carefully considered use of the blue and yellow. A very refreshing shot. Too bad it wasn't a close-up of a bird or some other form of wildlife or you would have won a ribbon! |
