Right on about the holding. I actually have been learning a bit about creating frames, so I went to some of our materials we shot in September. I really like how they came out--makes the shot look more professional.

Thanks for both previous posts. This isn't a challenge shot, so I did what I wanted with it. I used PS to work with the background. The original had too much clutter in the background, so I created a second layer and blurred it out pretty completely. The next step was to select the eraser and take away the part of the blurred layer that I wanted the bottom (clear) layer to show through. I was pleased that the affect actually looked good.

This IS a wonderful portrait. It isn't a really tight crop, but with the girl and the kitty, it works superbly. The overall feel of it is warm and fuzzy, yet it isn't cheesy in the least. I like the DOF and the lighting is very nicely executed.

COOOOOL!!! Really fun. I've never done anything like that in post editing.

Great complementary colors too.

You are absolutely right on the focus. I debated if I should post these, but am constantly amazed at the eye of my 9-year old. She hasn't mastered the settings yet, but she can certainly find a moment. We aim to have people like you help us in our photography (and you are), so we've decided to post even imperfect shots in hopes to identify some portion of the shot that is good. Keep commenting; it keeps us moving forward. And as far as Rylee is concerned, if she improves a little each year, I can't imagine what she will be able to do as a teenager.
