All in the eyes.by GeocideComment by wingy: This shot needed a better setup. The blue line in the bottom left could have been avoided and the shadowing on the right side kills the photo. That's really too bad because you've got a really sharp focus on the eye and better lighting would have revealed a great eye shot. This shot also seems to lack any specific emotional expression, but I do see the tie in that you're going for here. Good luck to you. 4 |

A glass of bubblyby GeocideComment by Silver Fox: A glass of bubbly

As I originally said is my comment, I like the way you have the water running into the glass with the air bubbles running into, over, and down the glass.
Youâve got really good focus and good lighting on the top of the glass but you lose out on the base of the glass when it becomes too blurry â is this because your depth of field was too shallow?
I must say that I get really thirsty every time I see this photo it looks so refreshing. At first I thought it was Champagne, but then I thought, âgee, what a waste!â
1/1024 of a second! Wow, who would have thought?
I canât believe you finished so low with this shot (61/79) after looking at some of the other shots. Oh well! You did a good job of taking this photograph and in my humble opinion it's a darn good one.
Just keep shooting, Adam. Have some fun, keep entering the Challenges, your scores are going to start climbing up, but remember the main thing is to have fun while youâre out clicking away. . .
Regards,
Ed

Life from aboveby GeocideComment by DrJOnes: Greetings from the CRITIQUE CLUB!
At first glance, this photo is intriguing and interesting visually. The fact that it's very hard to tell what the subjet is is not a problem at all and the photo can be seen and interpreted on many levels which brings this photo in the abstract category. Its composition is very well done. The lines pointing to the orange circle works extremely well. The crop is excellent and the two larger sections on the right really add something to the visual quality of the photo. The orange color on blue is interesting as well.
Shot at a lower ISO would have surelly helped to reduce the high grain especially noticable in the orange and shadows on the white areas. Also, the photo doesn't seem to meet with the challenge. There is no indication that it was shot from above. The blue seems to be the sky and therefore indicates that it was shot from bellow. Wether ot not it was the case, the simple fact that as a viewer there is not way to know is enough to conclude that it doesn't meet with the challenge.
Original shot. Very nice composition. Excellent effort. Would get a 7 on its own when not considering the challenge theme. Rates under 5 when considering the challenge. |

All in the eyes.by GeocideComment by justine: Lovely brown eye.. I believe this is just a bit too dark on the right and the blue on the left is a distraction. Good Luck to ya! |

The New Timepieceby GeocideComment by GreggeN: Really, really like it - looks like a still from a sci-fi movie! Also a refreshingly different approach in a week stuffed with shots of watches, hourglasses and clock towers. An interesting social comment, too - I know I sometimes no longer wear a watch because I've got my phone! A good photo which works on many levels; one of my favourites this week. 9. |
