DSC_8413.jpgby nomad469Comment by ltlmschrisss: The blow out behind him is distracting, it also takes a lot of the detail out of the shoulder. Again with this one the background is pulling away. It would help if we knew what you were trying to achieve. Was it just a portrait? Or is it supposed to be telling us about who this man is? |

DSC_8453.jpgby nomad469Comment by Tlemetry: I like the offset placement of the subject.
I would have removed quite a few of the barbers materials in the background. Its a little cluttered.
I like shallow dof. I might blur the background out a bit to make the subject stand out.
The glare in the picture frame is distracting, I would try to remove that. I would also try to remove one of the catch lights in the eyes.
The colorful thing in the bottom is cut in half so its not a part of the image, I would have removed it or featured it. It is the most colorful thing in the shot and very much dragging my eye to it.
Using Curves, I would add a bit more contrast to the shot.
And something to think about when setting up a shot like this is to pay attention to the clothes. The bunched up wrinkled suit jacket looks a little sloppy like it doesn't fit him. Its a minor thing and not something you need to worry about in this shot. Just for future thought.

DSC_8453.jpgby nomad469Comment by ltlmschrisss: I think the color and lighting in this photo is good. However with the background I feel like you are trying to showcase something and I can not figure out which it is. Logically I am thinking the award on the bottom left, but it is cut off. My eye is drawn first to the office supplies and then to the certificates on the wall. |

KS22308-613FW.jpgby nomad469Comment by WalesP: He doesn't look happy. Both the color version and the B&W are excellent. I found that the color version seemed to bring out the emotion in his face a little bit more than the B&W. There seems to be a whole lotta story here. |
