The almost pain of ecstasy. Would love to hear.
ETA: again, the BW gets to the heart of the matter.

He doesn't look happy. Both the color version and the B&W are excellent. I found that the color version seemed to bring out the emotion in his face a little bit more than the B&W. There seems to be a whole lotta story here.

Nice capture and well done on the avaiable lighting, looks really good. Very emotive facial expressions.

Thanks for the extra info in the comments Dave, before I read what he was doing I thought he was sat in a bar and had just watched someone put ice in his single malt!

Love the conversion to B&W (also liked the colour version but not as much) and whilst its a crisp image with good dof would have preferred his face/hair to be sharper and really pop.

I'm not sure I agree with everyone here. To me it looks more like a wince or you just caught the man in a blink but now that I read your comment I can see he's getting into the beat. Nice shot but I would not have known otherwise. More context would be cool in this case. Drums look good, why not show them a little more?

Greate expression captured on both faces.

Wow. That looks like a story I'd love to be in on. His expression is so full of emotion. I love the blurred face in the background too.

Black and white adds so much richness to this photo. Excellent job with it.

Thanks for the comments ...
Here is the story.
This gentleman is a drummer with a group called "it is what it is". They are basically a middle-eastern style drum circle.
He occasionally sings durning their performance. And when he does the passion of his performance really comes out. He doesn't just sing ... he causes his audience to feel is words. Pretty darn impressive performer.

very good all around. His expression makes me wonder what he is thinking. The woman in the background has a look of concern. And the placement of his hand frames her face giving it more than usual prominence in the image. Very well captured.
