Technically, a little contrasty for my liking, however, news photos happen when they happen and there's little control the photog has as to time of day, lighting, etc.

This is definitely newspaper-type material, just not all newspapers. I can neither agree nor disagree with the content, but the photo itself is fairly well-made and captured at a decent angle. The lighting appears to be from midday sun, which makes it a bit flat with harsh shadows, but in news you take what you get, right? I am sure it was rather interesting, being there in person...hope you weren't one of the people on the receiving end of "the bird." I also hope you don't suffer from the political voters rather than those who vote based on photographic merit. :o)
