The sharpest tool in the shedby talzamComment by Ecce_Signum: Hi Tal, Ecce here from the Critique Club.
Whilst Titles should not (imho) be cause to alter the vote I do think they can enhance an image but in this case my idea of the phrase is not the sharpest tool in the shed As was mentioned in the comment below I understand how pens can be tools and like the fact you are holding them - the dof in the hand adds to the image for me.
The lighting is a bit flat and whilst I like the natural graduation of the background there is a little too much as it's not the most interesting. A bit more light on the pens to bring out more detail might help as well.
I didn't enter nor vote in this challenge but would most likely have given it a 5 and think it deserves the extra 0.0562 to break the 5.
Best of luck in future challenges, I'm sure your first 6 is just around the corner!

Mary Poppinsby talzamComment by Denielle: Great shot. love the colors. cute title. there's a little too much shadow on the model's face for my liking, but overall, this is a great image. |

Cinderella's Toeby talzamComment by snaffles: Greetings from the Critique Club!
This shot definitely made me smile and probably would have given it a 6 or 7 in voting. Love the cute idea and creativity, but a little bit of toenail trimming may have helped. Especially when shooting for Basic challenges, you want to make sure your subject is as camera-ready as possible because you can't use clone and similar tools. Just rounding off the edges would help.
Lighting is a little dim, the dof is Ok but makes the scrunchie dress look smudged. The stickpin is a nice little touch, as is the crown and smiley face :-)Overall a nicely seditious image that dares to boldly go where most DPCers fear to tread, so kudos for that!
Feel free to PM me,
Susan |

The sharpest tool in the shedby talzamComment by Denielle: I think the lighting is a little too dull, and the color is a little over saturated (even if that wasn't applied). I get that pens can be tools, not seeing the shed, but that's neither here nor there. I think it's a good idea, the picture just isn't saying "wow" to me. But that's all in personal preference. |
