Circle of Lightby ivale28Comment: I like your original take on the "circle" idea. I would have given you a high score because I think your entry is creative. That said, I think a lot of people might dismiss the idea. Since the average voter (including me, depending on the challenge) might only spend a limited amount of time on each picture (probably a couple of seconds!), an image that doesn't immediately connect with the challenge topic might get voted down a lot.
I read somewhere that voters here tend to prefer images that are simple over images that are busy, because when you are flipping through hundreds of pictures, you are going to stop only at the eye-catchers. So if the focal point of interest is not immediately obvious, voters might use their 4s and 5s to vote "next!" The darkened leaves by the trunk and by the are also distracting -- the overall composition might flow better without them.

The New Gent.by cptpolandComment: I love how you managed to capture the sun reflection with a slow exposure. That makes it an interesting picture even for people who are not necessarily interested in the car itself. |

Service Without a Smile by CharleneComment: I think the contrast has been set too high in this image. The man's face in the foreground doesn't look right. It should either look darkened on purpose, or be light enough to keep his features recognizable. Still, it's an unusual image compared to all the others, and to me that's at least a 5. |

Blue of the Red seaby MotekComment: I like this shot, but I would add a focal point of interest. Right now I'm not sure whether it's supposed to be the round object towards the bottom, the coral sprouting from it, or the scattered fish. |

Twenty Oneby gfiedComment: Very pretty, although I think the soft focus might be a bit too soft. I would add something to give the picture a little more subtle intensity -- perhaps have the person look at the camera, or add some sharpness to her eyes. |

The Soloistby JammurComment: I really, really like this shot. I love how you can still see a little bit of the man's face. I would remove the microphones, however. |
