Scuffedby krazyivanComment: Because of you DOF, theres a ring in the photo that's actually in focus, the center is blurred, the edges are blurred, but theres a ring of focus areound the foreground and background (because you're shooting a sphere). This hurts the composition and weakens the focal point - do I look at the scuff thats blurred or the stitching that's mostly in focus? I would say, lenghthen your DOF to solve this problem. I like the composition otherwise and the b/w |

Close to the Ethernetby SteveJComment: lighting way too strong here. The glare off the resistor and shadow created underneath give it a snapshot feel and not a photograph. While the eye is clarly drawn to teh subject - the resistor - the surrounding elelments to not progress in any particular order and the void in the foregound leave me to coclude that the composition is weak here. Soften the lighting , even out the composition, and keep shooting. Even try a few different colors of light instead of your flash. |

Signs of ageby carlosmfernandesComment: wow, that's nice! Awesome lighting and textire. It's like a giant stone sculpture. The side lighting accross the upper lip is bright enough to achieve a stark contrast for texture whil enot loosing anything in the shadows. And how hard is it to take a respectable up the nose shot without too much embarassment!? Wonderful! |

dead leafby GinaRothfelsComment: The composition of the photo is pretty good. But the harshness of the rocks and the similarityies in color make it difficult to distinguish the leaf as your subject. Too "busy" you might say. The harshness and angle of the light add to that problem. Suggestion: forget the rocks, get a super macro of the leaf weins, the light angle accentuates the texture of the veins and would make a good photo wihtout the surrounding distractions. |

The Portalby poweronoComment: while this may very well be a macro, that is not apparent. And while I think this is an awesome photo, I wouldn't say that it fits this challenge very well, it's more of an abstract or motion photo. |

Old Writerby selvaticoComment: good comp, elements, and light. would only have liked to see larger DOF, or possibly th efocal point on the tip of the stylus. That's a pretty subjetive critique :-) |
