Looking out to seaby tjmuellerComment: I think this could've been a great shot, if there was just a little context to what the two people were looking out at. Maybe a horizon or something - I don't know. |

Whooshby banmornComment: Nicely executed. But a speeding flower composition??!! |

breatherby arsenalComment: A nice sense of rotational blur. And very evocative of a sense of a worn out piece of equipment from a bygone era, helped by the choice of monochrome.
But the compoition needs a little more. I've no idea what, but it needs a little more. |

Harley Davidson Heritage Softailby ggbudgeComment: I like this. The rotational blur of the wheel and the brake disc, combined with the directional blur in the background, convey exactly the right sense of movement. This is helped by the reasonably large chunk of empty road to the left of the photo for the bike to "move into".
I think monochrome is the right choice here. The slightly excessively chrome trim on the bike is definitely 50s heritage, and monochrome helps to reinforce that.
I can't help feeling that I would've liked to have seen just a little more of the bike in the shot, but I can't work out how I would've done that without spoiling the overall composition. So it's probably about right as it is.
Must've been a tricky shot to take, too... |

Faster...by pinbokeshattaComment: It's been done before, of course. but it still looks pretty good. There's a real sense of rotation, here.
The contrasting light and dark patches in the background work well. It's a shame there isn't more interesting lighting of the subject, though. |

Don't Ask What's For Dinnerby Mr_PantsComment: A great idea, and the shot is technically well executed. Lighting, focus, motion blur all come together well. I might have been inclined to broaden the framing a little, but that's just my taste.
But there's a lack of emotion in the subjects that makes the whole thing seem a bit contrived, unfortunately. It doesn't look like they mean it. |

Propeller in Motionby BrianRComment: I like this. I'm always a sucker for any photo with a strong reflection element, and this photo has that - there is a powerful sense of how highly polished is the metal of the engine cowling.
I think the juxtaposition of the engine against the fuselage works well. and the colour saturation has been pumped up just enough.
If anything, maybe the blur of the props is just a little understated. could've done with just a slightly longer exposure to make the prop rotation more of a focal point of the composition. But that's being really picky. |

Eye of Godby chaliceComment: A very absorbing photo - I can look at it for ages without knowing or caring what it actually is.
But I don't get a sense of "motion blur" leaping out at me. |

flower powerby skewsmeComment: A veryt compelling effect. But motion blur? There is blur, certainly. But, given the subject matter, it doesn't communicate a sense of motion. |

Rounding Turn 12by ourwebstopComment: This is a beautiful shot - if ever I manage to capture one like this, I'll be well chuffed.
But the blur doesn't feature strongly enough for it to stand out as a "motion blur" photo. If it had been at a slightly different angle, and there had been, say, some obvious blur in the wheel spokes to impart a real sense of speed, then it would have been a different story.
A lovely photo, but not a "speed blur" photo. |
